Latest Update

medium_DSCN0126x1.JPG
I have been lazy on updating my blog lately, or actually I’ve been to busy to update it.

Last week was packed. Every day was full. And the weekend was rather hectic, but fun. Last Friday we had a party celebrating Tanjas birthday at our place, or rather in the front yard of our house. There were many wonderful people there and it was a really nice night, except for the snails and spiders that attacked one of the food trays after the sunset. They were rather yucky beings.

On Saturday we went to a wedding in Jakobstad, it was our friends Markus and Johanna, now both Myllymäki, that got married. It was a nice and fun wedding. We were the speakers at the wedding, looking all representable and nice, making funny jokes on stage trying to make people comfortable. It went quite ok, although our chaos-factor rose a couple of degrees as we took care of Aron at the same time. It was like do arrangements – change clothes – feed baby – change diaper – run to the ceremony – baby pukes on Tanja’s custom made dress – ceremony over – feed baby – final arrangements – up on stage – smile – speak – down – change diaper – baby pukes in my sleeve – up on stage – look good – speak – and so on and on. Yes, I also had the flu. It still went great, must’ve been God involved, he usually helps out in situations like that.

This week has also been busy, and at the same time having a cold I feel like a really need to take a night off and just relax. Which I will do tonight.

This Tuesday we were on a concert with a guy named Adlan Cruz, we didn’t have all too high expectations, but this guy was amazing, simply amazing. I enjoyed the concert so much. I thought it would be a classical piano concert, but it was more like a progressive rock show as he was backed up by great musicians. Check this dude out, he’s a musical genius I tell you. Or come to our place and watch the DVD we bought.

I’ll try to update more often, don’t give up on me. =)

There seem to be a lot of people that stop blogging. That’s a bit sad. And there have been many that have changed blog sites. I need to update my links some day.

Ok, take care bye bye!

Have had this challenge laying around for a while now.
It came from Jake.

1. One book that changed your life:The Bible, of course. Can't remember any other that actaully would have changed my life.
2. One book that you’ve read more than once: The Hobbit by J.R.R.R.R Tolkien.
3. One book you’d want on a desert island:Oh man, that would need to be a big fat book. But if I can choose only one I'll take the Bible, as I can't part with it.
4. One book that made you laugh: The Sacred Diary of Adrian Plass. =D
5. One book that made you cry: It was some book by Riku Rinne. It was a weird time...
6. One book that you wish had been written: The Best Adventure Book Ever.
7. One book that you wish had never been written: Kai and Rhan, kai, or whatever written by a swedish author named Krogar or something. It really sucked.

The Purpose Driven Life

medium_Purpose_20Driven_20Life.jpgMe and Tanja have been reading this book The Purpose Driven Life, by Rick Warren, and we both think that this is one great book that everyone should read.

I tried to find some reviews on the internet about this book so I could post it on my blog, or parts of it at least. But almost all of the reviews I found were negative! I really don’t understand why. In my opinion only good will come from people reading this book. All the reviews were complaining about the theological incorrectness in the book and other things. The feeling you got from most of the reviews was that the one writing them wrote them with the only purpose to try to come off as smarter that the person who wrote the book. Seriously, I didn’t find any relevant criticism in any of the reviews. Most of the reviews went in the vein of “blah blah blah, Warren states in his book by wrongly quoting the bible that “the apple is green”, but when you read the bible it instead really states that “the apple is green” thus proving that Warren is stupid and I am great.”.

So…

I may sound a bit negative, but I do not think our place as Christians is to put others down for what they do, especially if they do something good. What about if you recommended this book to someone who is not a Christian, and he is interested in reading it, until he checks up some review on the internet with a lot of other Christians bashing down upon the book?

Have you read it? Comments?

You should get to their website by clicking the picture, at least I tried to link the picture in that way.
There is also a streamed song there for you to listen to, good stuff, in my oppinion.

A Summer Evening

medium_DSCN0043x.JPG
This Monday we were two cell groups who went out into the middle of nowhere to a summer cottage to spend an evening. The cottage belonged to a teacher that two of us has, we were hired for a while as builders when it was built, so he promised us that we could use it sometimes. So we had to cease the opportunity. It was hard to call it a cottage, because it’s really big and very nice!

But we had a great evening grilling sausages, eating bread, swimming, bathing sauna, fishing, rowing, having rope-pulling contests, and playing kubb!

We have lots of great photos, somewhere, I had so much fun that I forgot to make use of our camera. Dadde seemed rather tired and cold at the end of the evening, but I hope even he had a good time there.

Summer is soon over. That is sad. I wish it always could be summer, except for one week before and one week after Christmas, then it can be cold and white.

In Memory Of a Friend

I haven’t posted anything on my blog now for a while. And there is a reason to it. There was something I had to write about, something that I need to go through my fingers and be seen in written form. I just felt I had to write about this before blogging about other things again.

A tragedy occurred last Thursday. A friend of ours drowned while being out on a boat trip.

We had only known Prince for about a year, but he was one of those persons you so easily connect with. So during that year we got to know him pretty well. He was a great guy, he was actually the first person I have met that did not know the meaning of being depressed. And he really cared for people.

He was home from Ghana and was studying IT here in Vaasa. The last time we spoke to him we asked him for how long he will be staying in Finland; he told us that he had plans for staying at least 6 years. We were so glad to hear that he had planned to stay for so long, as that would have given us a great chance to get to know him better.

I try to remember everything about him, and I don’t want to forget what he told me about himself. I remember him telling me about him being afraid of snakes and that he could not understand the relationship Finnish people seemed to have with their pets. He had actually stopped and asked a woman on the street why she was talking to her dog.

He was one of the people who made me understand the power of saying someone’s name when meeting them. He always shouted my name as soon as he saw me. It felt so good, so I’ve been trying to do the same with other people I know. The only problem is that I am very bad with names.

I’m sure going to miss him greatly. But I find comfort in the knowledge that we all know that he went to the Lord Jesus Christ, and that he is as happy as anyone can ever be. But I will still mourn the loss of Prince, a person this world did not afford to loose.

Always encouraging and positive.

It’s pretty typical that we never got a good picture of him. He liked our son Aron a lot, and we joked about them being each others best friends, and now we really wished we could have a picture of the two together.

The only picture we got is a bad one where you can’t even see him clearly because my big head is in the way. But I’ll post it here anyway.

We are going to try to get a good picture by some other friends, so we’ll at least have one good picture of him.

This has been a very strange and hard weekend. There was much sorrow, grief and strangely enough joy. It was the first time I’ve seen the whole church crying loud during a service.

In memory of Prince. See you on the other side!

SONY NW-E205

medium_456405s.jpg
Today I bought a new mp3-player, it is a Sony. It is blue, and shaped like a bean, it looks very smooth and… and very feminine. It is right now lying on the table charging its batteries. It cost me 69,90 €, so it better be good!

I read a review about it the other day. The review said it kind of sucked big time, but is “good if you like Sony”, whatever that’s supposed to mean?

Well, the reason I bought it at all was that it, first of all, fulfilled all the requirements I wanted in a mp3-player. It was supposed to support both mp3 and mwa file formats, it should have a rechargeable battery, and be compatible with ordinary headphones. This was also why I bought a new one in the first place as my old one did not meet up to any of those demands. And the final and biggest reason I bought it was the price was lowered from 119 € to 69,90 €, I hope there’s no obvious reason behind the drop in price.

Well, anyway. I can’t wait to get to try it out.

Btw, here’s the review I read.

For a Sony product, the audio quality in Walkman Bean could be better. Also, the USB port cover and buttons feel a bit flimsy.
Who likes this product: The Sony Walkman Bean is an elegant flash memory MP3 player, and especially women appreciate its style.
Style: The rounded, bean shaped design of the unit is different to any other MP3 player that we have seen so far. The unit is comfortable to hold in the hand - even in a small hand.
Value for money: The Sony Walkman Bean is not necessarily a bargain, there are good flash memory MP3 players available that you can get for less money than this product. If you like the style and generally like Sony's products, this could be the flash memory MP3 player for you.

El Bloggo

medium_Peel1092671471.jpg
I seem to be having a blog-draught. Before I usually got ideas everyday what I could blog about, but now I can never think of anything. I try, but I can’t seem to come up with anything that seems to be worth blogging about. Maybe my blog should get a theme, a theme that I would concentrate on, so that when I don’t know what to blog about I could just dive into some news or happenings about that certain area, and probably find something interesting every time.

I have felt quite tired now for quite some time, I haven’t got the buzz for anything, anything that I could get excited about. Of course I’m excited about my family every day, but I need something in my work or something I can wrestle with in my mind also, just to get going. Now I just feel limp in some way.

It would be nice to be inspired to do something, especially something for the kingdom of God, that is something I’ve been wishing for now for some while. I would like to be inspired, to create something, just something, even if it only would be to illustrate a tract, or anything.

I want an mp3 player also, so I can surround myself with music. I feel a need for that somehow. But I can’t decide if I should buy a mp3-player or just pimp up my phone so much so that it would do as a mp3 player.

Well, what ever that will happen in the future, I hope it is something good.

Btw, some crazy things going on in the middle-east, aye?
