Weekend Writings

Last friday we got to borrow Tanjas parents car. It is a small comfy Opel. It is really small. Really, really small. But it is fast as lightning and very fun to drive. It was a happy surprise to notice that Ida had left the mp3 conversion thingy in the car so we could use my bean to listen to music in the car's stereo system.

We drove down to Kristiinankaupunki for the weekend to visit my parents. I got off work early to be able to go to the bank to pick up my new bank card, but we arrived 15 min too late and the doors were locked.

But when we got to my parent's place, we got some incredible food, as always when we pay a visit to my parents, and everything was good again.

medium_28102006.jpgI can't really recall what we spent the evening on, but at least we went for a walk in the upcoming storm, which was a rather cool experience. Some people would probably get irritated by walking in such weather, but we focused on the cup of tea that was awaiting us when we came back, the cup of tea that would taste, oh, so much better after a hard walk in an upcoming storm.

In the late evening we started to watch a film, that was rather bad, with John Travolta. After a while into the movie, the whole house went dark, and we realized that the electricity had gone. We all rejoyced and brought out candles that we lit and a monopoly game, and then we sat there playing monopoly until late in the night in the light of burning candles. That was comfy indeed.

On saturday Aron woke us up early with his usual good, über entuciastic, mood. I got up with him, leaving mommy to sleep for a while longer. Made breakfast for me and Tanja, and then sat down on a couch, with Aron on the floor, and watched a Asterix movie from '68 that I got on my birthday. After a while Arons grandmother woke up and started playing with him. It was a good start of the day.

medium_28102006_001_.2.jpgI payed a visit to an old, and very dear, friend of mine. I hadn't seen him in quite a while. When I got to his house, he was busy helping his dad construction some kind of hot water container for the heating system of the house, I joined and helped the best I could.

medium_28102006_002_.jpgAfterwards they offered me some tea and some great apple pie. I stayed for a while and chatted and then got picked up by my mother and sister who had been buying groceries in the town.

In the evening the house got invaded by relatives who came for dinner and to see the baby. It was nice, a lot of people and good food. At one point my sister convinced me to come out and make some snow-angels in the snow. There was not much snow, but the angels turned out nicely.

On sunday we got up, ate breakfast, took a shower and ate again and headed back to Vaasa.

We drove directly to church and the sunday service, and it was great! Lots of great people, some people from a lokal newspaper, an American I had not met before, a child's blessing, and all cool things.

After the service we drove to Tanjas parents church to attend a concert they had there. It was nice, a lot of people form Angola and so on. More food after the concert was consumed.

After all that we finally came home, read some emails and headed off to bed.

It was a good weekend, but I am oh so tired!

Hope you had a great weekend as well!
