Christian Music Pt. I

As a reviewer of Christian metal music this is an issue that always comes up, again and again, and there is no end to the debates.
The questions that always pop up are amongst other: what is Christian music? Can a Christian band have members that are not Christians? Can a band consisting of only Christian musicians not be a Christian band? Why do musicians need to brand themselves as Christians in what they do when e.g. a welder does not? Do the lyrics alone decide if a song is Christian or not? Then what about instrumental songs? Does the music need to be Christian? What if a Christian band makes a cover of a secular band? And so on and on and on in all eternity…

But it is still a relevant issue, and affects most Christians in one way or another.

One of the reasons why many metal bands, with Christian members, do not want to be labelled a Christian band is because of the corruption of the Christian music market in America. It’s a big business, and where there are big bucks, there are also always exploiters.

This is a quote from an interview with a band that everyone thought, or suspected, was a Christian band, but who announced that they were in fact not.

Although this has been asked many times...are you guys a christian band?
Schuyler: This has been asked every interview. It's alright though. We are not a christian band.
Steve: I would say that about a third of my drum beats are christian drum beats.
Schuyler: I think most of the riffs on the record are christian riffs.
Steve: I have that one jewish fill that I'm pretty proud of.

Rutines

I have complained about not having time to read any books lately, and today I finally figured out what was wrong?

You see, it all comes down to rutines. The small rutines you take up in life is what shape your life. Doing something small every day makes a big differance in the long run.
It was all because of the book I read at the moment, it is a rather large, stiff, paper-back book that you have to hold with both hands while reading, or else it will close itself. Now I am finally a bit over half the book, which makes it more balanced and I can read it at home while eating on my lunch-break from work, and that's it!
That is how I have been able to read alot of books during the last years, I've always read while eating my lunch! It may not seem like much, but reading a book 30-45 min each day makes a lot of read books during a year.

So I've found one of my lost rutines, and now I can start taking care of the long list of books that I want to read, and it feels good!

Rutines is also important in almost every area of ones life, that 2 min workout every day, that xylitol-gum after each meal, etc. They make a differance! And not to forget that prayer moment and that time of the day that goes into reading the bible.

The book I'm currently reading is written by Frank Peretti, and thus I checked out his blog today and he had written a great post about christmas, so go check it out.

Christian Metal Music Festival

medium_EF07_600.jpg
Endtime Festival
This is a festival the takes place in Halmstad, Sweden. The bands participating are all christian metal bands, and these are some heavy names, even if you've not heard about them, playing quality metal!
You can find them all on myspace, or on their homepages.
I just wanted to make you aware of this festivales existance and encourage you to go, and if you know any metal heads, christian or non-christian, then tell them about this!

About my blog, I will soon blog about my mother, because she is so totally worth it, and I will blog some thoughts about christian music. I just haven't had the time to blog lately. But check in every now and then and see if I've updated anything.

Merry Christmas to you all, once again! It is still raining and the grass is still green and the world is soon coming to an end! =)

Is it Just Me, Or?...

I get all kind of great ideas I could blog about when walking on the city or when being someplace else.
But! The moment I have the opportunity to blog I all of a sudden go totally blank in my head. I can't remember any of the things I wanted to blog about, and I cannot come up with anything.
Does these kind of things just happen to me or do other people suffer from the same thing?

Well, I can at least post a link to a very amuzing video, I think this is just fantastic! Go see!

About a Kid

medium_Didgeridoo.JPG
Aron is now almost 8 months old. He can already twist and roll like a maniac brake-dancer, and he can also play the didgeridoo, but he has not learnt how to crawl yet. It kind of also looks like he doesn't need it either, he gets from place to place by rolling, twisting and swinging between big objects. Sometimes he has crawled in rewerse, but not too often.

This will also be his first christmas ever. It is about +5 on the outside and no snow whatsoever, but the frogmen said that it will be lots of snow on christmas eve and about -15 degrees celsius. That sounds good, and so I choose to believe the frogmen.

I also would like to take the opportunity to announce that I will not try to blog too often anymore, i will blog when I feel the need to do so, not simply because I feel that I should update regularly. So from now on my blogposts will be more sparse, as if they had not already been so from before.

Marry Christmas to all of you!!!!!
