Peter Steele of Type O Negative

The blocaine, the rehab, the prison time—all this we can believe. It’s a familiar story, after all, in the minefield of treachery and temptation loosely corralled into what is affectionately known as “the rock ‘n’ roll business.” It’s what Steele says next that seems fucking weird, given his decades-long history of strident atheism.

“Believe it or not, I go to church.”

Huh?

“I’m a devout Roman Catholic, actually,” he insists. “There are no atheists in foxholes, they say, and I was a foxhole atheist for a long time. But after going through a midlife crisis and having many things change very quickly, it made me realize my mortality. And when you start to think about death, you start to think about what’s after it. And then you start hoping there is a god. For me, it’s a frightening thought to go nowhere. I also can’t believe that people like Stalin and Hitler are gonna go to the same place as Mother Teresa.”

All this is a recent development, apparently—Steele says he’s only been riding pews for a few years. He admits that this might be somewhat of a Dave Mustaine move, although certainly not to that bizarre level of born-again extremism. “Church is kind of a substitute, yeah, because if I wasn’t going to church, what else would I be doing, you know? I walk to church, and it’s like a half an hour away, so altogether I’m gone for like two hours, which takes a nice little chunk out of the day and it really clears my mind because I really pay attention when I’m in church. I don’t think about the other bullshit.”

I don't know if anyone else cares, but I'm stoked as Type O Negative was one of my favorite bands.
This could turn out to be something more than cool...

Something Totally Different!

Orphaned Land - Norra El Norra

Salem - Ha'ayara Bo'eret

Ah, this is two videos of two Israeli/Jewish metal bands! Not something you stumble upon every day, eh? =)
I think this is so cool as I've been looking for some metal bands from Israel for a long time now and now I've found two, and even more...
So, enjoy!

Another Engineer In Our World

medium_insinoorisormus.jpg
That is right folks! I have now finnished my exam and graduated with my bachelour's degree in construction engineering.

I got better grades than I had expected and I have a shiny ring on my finger.
Five years of hard work is behind me (very hard work...), and I can now go on and leave that school behind.
I feel so relieved and good at the moment, except from that bun I just ate that was a bit too big... See I bought large buns for the office at my work, celebrating my graduation, and I had to eat one myself and it was too big and too sweet, but what does that matter? I am done. Finnished.

Mwahaa haa haa haaah! Victory! =D

Are Reviews Needed Any Longer?

This just hit me.

I write reviews on music albums, so that people can read them and get some kind of picture of what kind of music the album contains, thus helping them deciding if they should buy it or not. Or then the reviews can help people find new bands they have not before heard about.

But then came MySpace...

On Myspace you can listen to samples of the albums and artists you are interested in, thus giving you about the same information you get from a review, only that you will also be able to hear the music yourself.
So why read reviews anymore?

Has MySpace killed the need for written reviews?

Will I still receives albums to review, or will they stop coming when distributors and labels decides that Myspace, and other similar sites, is probably a better tool to promote their bands with?

Do you read reviews when trying to decide upon buying an album or not, or do you just check the band out on myspace?

Or are you one of those pirates that simply just download the record from the net?

Please, do tell me.

So far things are not as I have written them as I received an album only yesterday and will soon write a review on it. And I for one will keep reading and writing reviews.

This is the site I write reviews for:
Victoryzine

And this is the places I usually visit to read reviews:
No Life Til Metal
Blabbermouth

Take care, and listen to much good music. =)

Blog update

So the reason to why I have been so busy, and not being able to update my blog, is that I am graduating from school this spring.

5 years of slavery, sweat, blood and tears will come to an end and I will be allowed to carry the title of Building Engineer. I will have a Bachelour's degree and be all important and accepted in society, or something like that...

So, I was going to take a picture of the Thesis that I wrote and that now lies on our living-room table, all blue and nice and thick with my name in golden letters, but I haven't had time to snap a pic and load it to the computer. But I will try to do so one day.

I have a few details to do at school still, but they are few and small indeed. I just hope, very much, that I haven't forgotten or byseen something that will keep me from graduating. I am in feer of a mail och phonecall from my supervisor or program manager(?) stating that I have forgotten to complete some compulsory course or project.

But I think I've done it all...

So, if all goes well, I'll graduate from Svenska Yrkeshögskolan, University of Applied Science with a Bachelours degree in Building Engineering at the 23rd of May.

Whish me good luck, and come for a coffee to out graduation party the 25th (for friends) or the 26th (for family and relatives)!

P.S. I wrote our graduation party as Tanja graduates at the same time as I do. She will become a special teacher.

That's it, for now.
