Where Moth and Rust Destroy

Matthew 6:20

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

So, about one year ago I bought a mp3 player and some headphones, and they were as close to perfect as things as those might come to suit the needs I had.
And they both had an one-year warranty! "Woohoo", I thought to myself.

But after one year, and maybe one month, they both started falling apart, the player now has a disfunctioning play button which affects all of the functions on the player due to the minimalistic button approach.
I can't adjust the volume one step at a time but I have to hold in the button and race towards a level of proper volume and try to stop at that. And everytime I do something it starts, or stops, the song playing.
It can be frustrating, but at least I can still listen to it.
And honestly it was a bit of my own fault as I carried heavy boxes while having the player in my pocket, resulting in some mp3 player crushing.

The headphones were not my fault though! They broke in two without me being violent at all!

And now winter apporaches, which reminds me of my very nice beenie being stolen last vinter/spring.
It took me forever to find a beenie that fitted my humongous head and still managed to look really nice.
Now I have to find a new one.

In all of this I hope I have succeeded to gather some treasures in heaven instead.
Where no warranty is needed, no flimsy play-buttons exist, and where my beenies are left alone, and I am sure that every beenie I ever try on in heaven will fit perfectly and look totally awesome on me.

To further underline the subject I chose to post this video as well.

And here are the lyrics so you all can sing along!

The world is quick to tell us
The media compels us
For me to have and you to not
Is the difference in our lot
If you must compound your joy
Then you must acquire this toy
Just remember this – a kiss is just a kiss
A smile is just a smile
The things you own will not atone
Or spare you from the life you’ve sown

Where moth and rust destroy
A land of tears and sadness
When those who put their faith in things
Find out it’s only madness

Enjoy all that He gives you
But make sure you can see through
The haze that blocks the clarity
Of seeing the eternity
Of things that last and things that don’t
Of choices we should make, but won’t
If you will just incline your ear
There is something you must hear
Heed his words and you’ll be free
From loving things more than Me

Where moth and rust destroy
A land of tears and sadness
When those who put their faith in things
Find out it’s only madness

Choose – you must choose
You must choose
Who you serve

Just waiting in the darkened wings
The voice that says to trust in things
Aspire to acquire – aspire to acquire
Light the sacrificial fire
Death to things
